Who says there are no hardcore games from Nintendo anymore? There are loads of them! At least, that’s Nintendo’s story, and they’re sticking to it, thank-you-very-much. In fact, they’ll have you know that their developers are up to their pointy ears in hardcore games, and will continue to be that way… for at least 2-3 years…
We have never neglected our core gamers. We still have developers working on popular core gaming franchises but we need longer to complete these games, approximately two to three years…
As someone who owns a Wii, this is pretty frustrating. Sometimes I have a feeling that the Wii is the N64 and Gamecube all over again in terms of a heavy deluge of titles early on, followed by nothing special for the rest of the console’s life. Only time will tell, but let’s hope I’m wrong. What about you, how do you feel about Nintendo’s lineup thus far for the Wii?

I was so pumped for a Wii, but then I took a look at the horizon and saw nothing but sea. No island of games to rescue me from my long voyage adrift.
Nintendo is truly not even in the console race this time b/c they are catering to a whole other segment and its not “people who like videogames”. It’s “people who don’t like games”.

Yeah… I’m a pretty damn casual gamer, and now that I’ve finished Super Mario Galaxy, the Wii has lost nearly all of its attraction for me. If they can’t even keep me on the hook, that’s pretty sad.
Yeah, I am glad I changed my mind to get a PS3 instead. I loves it.

See, I’m definitely not sold on the PS3 at all, but I might be convinced to get a 360. Maybe. There are several pretty tantalizing games out there I’d like to play.
I do have to say that Smash Bros is a good time when you’ve got enough people, and Super Mario Galaxies is the sequel to Mario 64 I’ve been waiting for (though I got tired of waggling). I just wish there was more.

You know, we rented it and none of us really enjoyed it that much even though we had four players. Nobody could figure out what the hell was going on. Maybe it’s just because we were on an SD set?
No, its b/c all you do is hit the A button
I was thrilled on Christmas when i got this. (The console that is).
Although, the only fun games are the release games, and Smash Bro’s, which also got old fast.
I’m finding that nintendo needs to lean away from this “Friend Code” thing, it’s ridiculous in all honesty it’s too far.
If they wanted to provide to their core gamers, then they would have added multi-player to Metroid Prime Corruption. If that had been the case then the Wii would have more “Hardcore Gamers”.
And i know MPC w/MP would be great because MP on the DS was amazing on MP, and had a massive fan base, with lots of clans etc.
Lastly, if they wanted to provide to their gamers, they would have never closed their forums. >.>
yes when the wii came out at first i went insane because motion sensors sounded cool but now, that was back in early 07 and i cant remember the last time i have played, the problem is that the games are either aimed for 5yr olds and they are boring, get old fast, short, or somtimes damn tiring. The only reason its popular is because ppl like me thought it was a good investment at first but were disappointed, or mothers that think that other consoles hold too many violent games and buy it for their kids. There are very few solid titles. and if you dont have zelda twilight princess yet, dont waste your money on the wii version cuz it makes your wrists hurt like hell =(
Thing is, even when I was excited with the Wii, I still said, “I am going to want to play normal games, too”
Now, after seeing what the Wii is offering, I only want to play normal games, lol
Nintendo’s lineup so far is pretty bad, not including the first party games which are awesome. Soon, the Wii “will” have a few hardcore games. Soon “The House of the Dead:Overkill”, “The Conduit”, and “Dead Rising”. Although these are only three, i suppose that these games will be the new bringers of the new Wii Age.

XD So very true.
Yeah, what can I say? Sometimes, you don’t want to waggle anything except your girlfriends tush.
lol@Anthony’s fantasies.
But on topic, I’m not at all surprised to see the Wii faltering (thus the reason for my lack of the Large White Expensive Doorstop). Without a hard core of hardcore (please forgive that) customers, Nintendo cannot hope to match other platforms in terms of audience size and enthusiasm. And we all know what makes a hardcore gamer’s heart palpitate: RPGs or first-person shooters. Or, in the case of games like Mass Effect, RPG shooters. And the Wii simply doesn’t compete in that area.
Plainly put, until Nintendo is willing to embrace the gamer population ages fourteen to forty, they’ll never have the success or acclaim of their more serious competition.
