In news that may come as a blow to many gamers hoping to get their “create on” with Little Big Planet, in a recent interview with Joystiq.com, producer Pete Smith and interface designer Jim Unwin confirmed what many had feared:
When asked if a PS Eye was needed to import images into the game, they replied:
At the moment it’s only possible with the PlayStation Eye, but other methods could be patched in later. There’s so much stuff we want to put in this game, but if we add all of it before launch, it’s never going to come out. So there’s a lot of stuff that we’ve had to delay. We say delay, and not cut, because that’s exactly what we mean. This game was made to have content patched in later.
While they did leave wiggle room for a patch in the future, this could hurt initial sales of the game. Sony is relying on this product to be a system-seller and the hype for this game is tremendous. If gamers have to buy an otherwise useless periphral in order to fully enjoy what looks to be THE must-play game of the year, then many may be turned off by this news.

Ouch. I hope they do something about this, because Little Big Planet is pretty much at the top of my list for must-buys this Fall/Winter.
Yeah, I am so pumped for this and now it dampened my fanboy fever.
I would love to get my hands on this game.It also dare I say…..might make me want to buy a PS3.
But I have a feeling Sony will screw it up….Oops was my X-box fan boy showing threw?
