Half Life 2 Episode 3 Still Far Away

And by “far away”, I mean 2010.

Though the wait between Half Life 2 and Episode One was about 2 years, Valve’s Doug Lombardi has said in an interview that the next installment of the epic storyline will probably take a little longer than that even before it’s ready to release. Episode 2 came out in 2007. So yeah, 2010 or thereabouts.

While this seems like a downer, he also hinted that they could be showing something new by the end of the year, after Left 4 Dead’s release. Fun stuff! So who is anxious for Episode Three?

  1. to be honest the only reason i have hl2 ep 1 and 2 is cause they came with the orange box.
    was never too into hl2 ….. im more of a css and tf2 guy
    i will only have ep 3 if it comes in another box deal for a few games in one box

    Frankly, I’d rather wait for an amazing game than get a less than amazing game now. You can read that in the First Questionaire thingy (the one with the ‘?’ block).

    Anyway, the only – THE ONLY – probably with Valve is that they spend a lot of time, usually four or something years, on their games. Whatever. At least they pwn.

  3. i’m sure it’ll be good (spoiler warning about ep2 ending), and the helicopter was still in the hanger at the end of e2 right? or did that get destroyed by the advisors? Oh well, if its still there, valve better amke it so u can fly the helicopter 😛 it would be something new although pointless xD

    @Weiss – yeah the helicopter was still there. but i think that the ASHPD will be inside the borealis. did you know they were planing to start half life 2 in the borealis?

    Anyway…
    I NEED IT!!!!! I NEED HL2:EPISODE 3!!

  6. Ya, I thought so. It’s hard to think up a continuous story to that tragic ending on ep2. Also, it will take another year for the programmers and designers and yada yada yada yada…

  7. A lot of the stuff that was originally going to be in hl2 have been put into the episodes, like the antlion caves, and the Borealis. I’ve been hoping for some ep3 news since valve has been pretty much silent about it for a long time now, I’m a little disappointed that it won’t be out until 2010 though. I was hoping for at least a 2009 release.

  9. Is it true that Episodes 1, 2 and 3 are supposed to be considered “Episode 1” of Half-Life 3 ?

    I just hope they somehow merge Portal with Half-Life eventual!
    (I mean the stories, not just copying the maps into the portal directory XD )
