More KOTOR MMO News

CVG has up some updated information regarding the working KOTOR MMO that everyone in the entire universe (and by that I mean myself) is itching to play. The main feature in this article is about the single player experience, or that the MMO is designed to feel more like Bioware’s single player games, rather than the typical MMO with endless grinding and no substance.

The cool bits of the article relate to character customization, which will apparently be fairly robust as well as the companion characters, which are NPC party members who interact with you just as they do in other Bioware games. It really sounds like they want to give players the KOTOR they’ve been waiting for, in addition to a great MMO.

I’m actually a big fan of this component as it removes having to deal with other people all the time, which to me seems like one of the drawbacks of MMO. Lots of people isn’t always better, especially on the Internet. Here’s hoping for a deep and rich experience.

Anywho, there are also some new screenshots to check out, and just general info for anyone who, like me, is a lunatic about KOTOR. Who else would punch a baby for this game?

  1. Its ok eddy, i have also been anxiously waiting for more details on this since i got the email about it… I sincerely hope it doesn’t suck… The NPCs that interact with you is also something i like, because it always seems like in MMOs you inevitably are stuck with people who have no idea what they are doing…

  2. I would punch a whole nursery full of babies to play this game. (Which would align me with the Sith, I suppose. “Darth Baby-Puncher, your reputation proceeds you.”)

I’m waiting on baited breath for a bit more info on classes in this game. I don’t really have a huge interest in being a Force-user (been there, done that).

Ha, or people who know WAY too much about what they’re doing, therefore demanding that you do everything precisely the way they would have done it.

  4. My friend and I used to have several hours long conversations about the lore of KOTOR and how it tied in with the Star Wars books and movies. (Uber nerd, I know) That said, I hope they don’t sacrifice the lore of the Star Wars universe to make this game an MMO…

Truth be told, I’d rather this be a single player game like the others.

Oh, and I would definitely punch a baby for this game, provided it turns out good.

As a star wars nerd, don’t fret about the Lore. They have had to retcon so many things at this point, I don’t pay it any mind. Just enjoy the stories for what they are.

I don’t even consider Dark Empire as having happened, myself.

  6. Yeah eddy, ur right, those people are even worse, the kind of people who demand you get on their teamspeak line… But i think this could work reasonably well as an MMO, since they seem to have the concept that there were adventurous people and jedi all over the place.. how much can you mess that up?

  7. The reason I don’t play MMOs is BECAUSE of all the multiplayer nerd stressy stuff… Having to sign up on weird web pages and spending hours finding a party for a dungeon/instance only to find out someone has to go after 30 min… also you have to play for so many hours at a time to get into the multiplayer and if you don’t have that much time you’ll end up solo grinding :S not fun at all…
