I find Crackdown to be one of the most underrated games of this generation, and a testament to pure platforming bliss. While the open world could have had a few more options and the story was lacking, the gameplay was addictive and the agility orbs could weaken even the strongest man’s resolve.
That’s why it’s exciting to hear several dudes including XBox Live’s Major Nelson talking up the possibility of a Crackdown sequel. Unfortunately, Realtime Worlds immediately began work on the MMO titled APB, which is essentially an MMO version of GTA, in a sense. I guess nobody knew that Crackdown would take hold like it did, despite the packaging of the Halo 3 beta. Go figure.
I can’t wait for a Crackdown 2. What do you guys think? Did any of you play the first one? Am I on the crazy bus?

I played it on my cousin’s 360. Really good. Levelling up was a nice idea and playing football with cars/trucks online was brill. Lookin’ forward to this!
You should do a post about ‘Biggest Underrated Games’. Gitaroo Man and Okami are great examples of the last gen.
I bought the game for one reason, Halo 3 BETA. But ya know what? I played the game, beat it, and liked it. I played it quite a bit. It was a free roamer and pretty fun. I would play a sequel.
Unfortunately, I hadn’t purchased a 360 before Halo 3 was released – and see how it changed mah lief – so I never got my hands on Crackdown or Call of Duty 2 when it released.
Fortunately, I managed to play the game while at a friend’s house. He had bought the game for the Halo 3 Beta, and then found out that the Halo 3 Beta was the cherry on top of a very cool game. I played it for about an hour or two hours, and I loved it! It was just fun to not have to worry about physics.
Unfortunately, I never found time or money to get Crackdown.
Fortunately, Crackdown II will come out, so hopefully I won’t have missed too much from the first installment.
Talk about a roller-coaster ride.
ya you dont really see much in the first game so dont worry, but finding the agility orbs almost brought my friend to tears. although he did eventually find them all.
I played Crackdown and pretty much loved it.
Great game, great flow.
Blowing stuff up is just the best.
