Awesome video games based on movies are in rather short supply on the whole. You figure that these two great visual mediums wouldn’t be all that hard to combine, but for some reason the translations across both sides of the line have been rather awkward to say the least, and rather awful for the most part.
That’s why these new screenshots will make you drool and long for game movies that could have been. It seems that over at the Game Artist forums, a friendly competition is underway for users to create video game screenshots based on famous movies. Some of the submissions include Aliens, Hellboy, Harry Potter, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, and then some. And they’re incredible.
The screenshots are mostly created in Unreal or the CryEngine, and are pretty face melting. Seriously, you’ll wish that these really existed. Hit the jump to see the screenshots.
X-Men 2
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Oldboy
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Aliens
Kill Bill
Hellboy
Fifth Element
Blade Runner
So, which one of these guys is your favorite? I’m a big fan of the Harry Potter and Blade Runner ones. It’s a shame none of these guys are actually working on one of these games, no?

Fifth Element, hah nice. Kill Bill would be fantastic. How about a Pulp Fiction video game, but super artistic/innovative? could be some potential for some nostalgic twist.

follow that link its good old css and one of my favroite maps entire thing almost seems lifted out of the movie although a bit more like the book
may not be the best graphics but its got perfect sound which matches the movie spot on and hell of fun to play
Kill Bill, Blade Runner and Fithe Element would have had been great concepts. Julez, how would you go about doing Pulp Fiction though? It sounds like a great idea, but how would it work? A QTE to knock out the Gimp? Choose the right dialogue to prevent a robbery in a diner go wrong? I would be brilliant if there was a way but that’s the problem I have with so many movies: How would you make a game of it let alone a good one?
I really would LOVE to see a nice Tactical-Horror Shooter for Aliens. It would be AWESOME!

Yeah, I know Gearbox was working on one, but from what I hear it’s been in and out of production lately. I’ll have to go look for more info on that.
Once these kids enter the video game business, I will omgasm. It’ll be awesome.
These are fairly incredible. Just epic wow.
Yeah skuba, I know i’ve thought about it as well. Have you played Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit? I think that sort of game play could work with Pulp Fiction, along with some third-person shooter/stealth action…
How about a Tarantino mashup. The Reservoir Dogs vs the Kill Bill squad? cuuuute…
A really good “matrix” game would be awesome.
If you could mod “mirrors edge” it would be perfect for both a “push” game and a “matrix” game.
(Push / mirrors edge have the same sort of high color art style, and if they put more emphases on combat, it would be the perfect matrix game. )

I see. I hope that gets pushed through. That would be cool.
I think that the blade runner and the harry potter one look the best, but i like the fifth element one also. The blade runner ones have the best atmosphere i think. Now that i think about it the fifth element ones look exactly like the movie almost
