Ever since Nintendo dropped trou on the video game industry with its motion control system, and then consequently made a metric crapload of money, it was only a matter of time before the other boys followed suit. We all knew that Project Natal from Microsoft was worming its way into our homes sometime soon, but there had been little development from Sony’s side of the ring.
Well, the gloves are now off. It seems that Sony has officially announced PlayStation Move, its new motion control device that is totally not a Wii-mote, as indicated by that strange blue ball on the end. Anyway, VG247 has a list of all the PS Move news you could shake a stick at, so I’d recommend checking that out if you want in on all the dirty details. The more interesting pieces of information include the fact that 20 first party titles are going to support PS Move when it launches this holiday, and that the device will be bundled with the EyeToy for a measly $100 bones.
So, what do you guys think of the PS Move? Go!

Um…I honestly don’t know what to say. It’s an interesting move, I’ll give them that much.
Meh, not interested. Although it looks like it’s going to be way better than the Wii’s controller.
Looks cool, have to wait and see
And lo, the dawn of the demise of the video game industry was beheld.
Seriously, this coming generation is going to be all pathetic gimmick games. Ugh, I hope some amount of developers realize this and continue to make good traditional games so I can keep playing games, as well as have a stable industry to enter when I become a Video Game Developer.

I wouldn’t worry.
Yeah, don’t worry too much about it. Great games will continue to be made for PC and the consoles (which won’t require their motion control), while a new branch of games just for wagglin’ and “standing up” will come out. Basically it just means more games and a new genre.
Good games = Good games.
Bad games = Bad games.
If motion control games are good, then we will play them and it won’t be an issue.
If motion control games suck, then we won’t play them and it won’t be an issue.
Either way, we win.
Can we please stop overreacting to this stuff? I’m starting to feel like I’m at a Tea Party rally or something.
Zayven, please don’t bring politics into this discussion. That kind of stuff starts fights, and I doubt anybody wants that. I’ve noted one overreaction in this thread. Yours is the second. 🙂
IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT! AND I FEEL FINE!
That’s 3! 🙂
My apologies about the political reference. I agree that it was out of line and I shouldn’t have gone there.
My overreaction was based primarily on the other forum thread about Warren Spector “speaking the truth” about the subject. Next time I won’t pick up the gauntlet.
