Crackdown 2: Rocket Tag

Many of you know of my great love for the game Crackdown. I credit the sandbox/platformer hybrid with my obsession for achievement hunting, and also name it as one of my best of this generation with no shame. It was a game unlike any other I had played before, and made you feel like a super soldier in the midst of a gorgeously realized open world.

While I have my doubts about the sequel, I’m still holding onto hope and looking forward to its release. The primary draw for me would have to be the four player co-op, which just seems like it’s going to be a screaming good time. It seems there’s a new Crackdown 2: Rocket Tag promotional video out, highlighting what was good sport in the first game: shooting the crap out of each other with rockets.

I’m still not sure how I feel about the game completely, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this newest trailer.

  2. I agree that Crackdown 2 doesn’t look that great, but I point you to September 25’s Would You Rather:

    Specifically, the one questions that asks whether you would sacrifice graphics for gameplay. If Crackdown 2 turns out to be a blast, I think we can cut it some slack.

    That being said, I tried out the Just Cause 2 demo this weekend. That game looks pretty fantastic, and it’s based in a huge swath of terrain. Wait and see, I guess.

  3. but the whole gameplay vs graphics only really applies when it actually looks like they put some effort into it. Right now it looks like barf in a bag, not to mention the gameplay in the video is your average shooter.

  5. Eh, GTA III didn’t have that bad of graphics for it’s time, did it?

    @ Mitch, I can’t stop playing the Just Cause 2 demo on Steam. It’s pretty easy (hard to get killed) but it’s incredibly fun. I can’t wait for the full game.

  6. Yeah, I played the demo a bit more last night. Didn’t die until the very end. I’m still not wholly familiar with the controls, but I did manage to pull off some awesome stuff.

    For example, I hijacked a military jeep and drove it into a gas station. Before it hit, I parachuted out and landed on a motorcycle and drove away. Pretty bad-ass.
