I was originally going to slap this thing with a “Today’s WTF” prefix, but with E3 around the corner, those things are going to be coming fast and furious. Still, this little bit of news is a head-scratcher for sure. Alan Wake, the upcoming X-Box 360 exclusive by Remedy Studios is catching a bit of flack for the game’s facial animations which apparently don’t match up with the tone of voice the character is using. For such a story driven tale, you can bet this has caused some consternation amongst the game’s reviewers.
One would expect such a fix, if it were to come at all, to be included in a patch, not through DLC. Remedy is doing the exact opposite, however, bundling in the change with the supernatural thriller’s upcoming downloadable content. No word on whether or not the additional gameplay will be free of charge or not, but if it includes alterations to the game’s code, it’s a safe bet that there will be some Microsoft Points involved.
What do you guys think about this? Fair or foul on Remedy’s part? For a game that’s been in development for so long, should we have to pay for something that should be there in the first place?

That’s Karma for canceling the PC release, those bastards.
I don’t care really since they canceled the PC release.
That’s kinda weird. At least they are fixing it but sucks that it is dlc.
Sucks for those that don’t have Live, but at least they’re doing something, although that’s something that shouldn’t have even existed.
Julez, that’s hardly karma. Remedy would be punished and not the consumer. : /
Also, I call BS on this.
Or they could just fix the code now. That’s what you do with production time. Better to fix the coding now, before the game launches, than to have to wait for DLC in which it’s harder to rewrite code.
This is not a WTF or Karma, this is just Dumbassery. Epique Phaighle.
Games go gold long before they launch, so all code is done months in advance.
Skuba, good games are played on PC so it is, in fact, Karma. XD.
Plus it’s bad for the company, so bad karma for them =).
Like eddy said, the code has been finished for a long time, and to delay this game even longer would be a baaad move.
At the end of the day, it’s bad all around.
