Deus Ex: Human Revolution Trailer is Double Elbow all the Way

We’ve seen a few CGI trailers for Deus Ex so far, but nothing that remotely resembles gameplay. A lot of you are probably wondering how the game looks when it’s running in-engine, and Square Enix has put out a new trailer to quiet your inquiries. This new video blends cutscenes and in-game action, and it looks pretty slick if really, really golden. Seriously, they need to get some white lights in this city.

Looks like we’ll be able to do all the stuff promised in the first trailer, such as neck-snapping through walls and turning invisible. Also, any game that features transforming gun-arms are OK in my book. What do you guys think of Deus Ex? Now that you’ve seen some gameplay, are you excited?

  1. Not holding my breath after Invisible War was basically console-ised. They make everything with HUGE TEXT and stupid menu design which is annoying on PC.

Fingers crossed that they add back all the hacking and lock picking options from the original Deus Ex so you have loads of paths around a locked door other then “Do you have the key>yes>unlocked door”

Maybe they thought it was too confusing but it’s hard not to miss all that stuff that made the original so great.

  2. Invisible War was made, I believe, by a completely different team.

I seem to remember it having hacking as well (don’t remember lock picking, but it may just have been something I didn’t throw points into). Invisible War gets a bad rap; it isn’t a bad game and is only remembered as a disappointment because it gets compared to the first one.

I’m a little iffy after seeing this trailer, to be honest. There seems to be an awful lot of canned animations in the 3rd person sections. I still want to see how they blend the first and second person aspects together as well as how this cool looking hand to hand combat will work. Maybe something like Arkham Asylum? I guess we’ll just have to wait for more detail.

Still, I’m not going to be too nit-picky because this game is still a long ways off.

  3. Yeah, I wasn’t expecting those 3rd person action sequences either, and based on the amount of times it happened in this trailer, I’m getting a little nervous for the gameplay…

However, I saw a leaked video that was about 10 minutes long probably 6 weeks ago, and it was this mission (find tong in the bar). But I stopped watching after 2 minutes cause I didn’t wanna ruin it for me!

First person stuff looks great, really hope the 3rd person stuff isn’t used constantly.
