Boom, sucker! Coming at you like a whole week’s worth of cliched masculine programming, it’s the list of nominees for the 2010 edition of the Spike Video Game Awards. All joking about Spike TV’s lineup aside, the VGAs are gaming’s only legitimate awards show and we need to lavish it with our praise, hoping that it will one day become less of a gong show. Hopefully this year they won’t troop out the troglodytes from the Jersey Shore again.
This year’s list of contenders is actually very solid, with some impressive choices filling out each category. While the big names fill in most of the lists, Spike gave due attention to all walks of gaming from the big Triple-A titles to the indie darlings that captured our cold, jaded hearts.

Kinda weird that RDR wasn’t on the Xbox list as well, I probably would have swapped it in for Fable III.
I also think its a bit soon to be nominating Black Ops for awards when its only been out a couple of weeks or so.
Its good to see Kirby in the Best Graphics category, but I had to go RDR.
A few categories I haven’t played any of the games that were nominated so I’m just voting based on word-of-mouth/hearsay
I’m really surprised that Starcraft II didn’t end up on the best games of the year nominee list.
Also, I get that everyone loves Nathan Fillion, but was he really nominated for best voice acting for his 5 minute cameo in Halo: Reach? Seems a little ludicrous.
I’m surprised a game as broken as Fallout: New Vegas is nominated a few times.
