GamerSushi Asks: Favorite DS Game?

Dawn of Sorrow

Up until about 2008, one of the many outrageous things that could be heard flying out of my ever-flapping lips was the statement that I thought the Nintendo DS was the best system out, bar none. Yes, that included the consoles. Now, since then, I have revised my opinion, but I can say, without blushing, that I think the DS is the best handheld system of all-time. Why? The games, man!

It always comes down to games and if you aren’t aware of the robust (cliche alert!) library the DS has to offer, fear not. Our friends over at GamePro put together a list (!) compiling the 31 Best DS Games. Although I think they missed the mark by putting Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars at the top spot, the rest of the list is pretty spot on. Personally, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is my all-time favorite, so it’s nice to see that near the top.

What DS games are your favorites? Who here has a DS? Are you happy with the games that have come out for it? Go!

  1. I’d say Chrono Trigger, because even though it was originally SNES, it was my first encounter with one of the best games ever IMO. I also liked Final Fantasy Tactics 2, but it wasn’t as good as the original so i wouldn’t call it my favorite

  2. I’ve got to be honest, it’s a tie between Brain Age 2 and Plant Puzzle League. I love PPL, especially since it reminds me of Pokemon Puzzle League. And Brain Age 2 was always fun to use to boast at my friends who were always in their 50’s. Not to mentioned, I loved using the Sudoku’s.
All the other DS games I played, I just couldn’t stick to, even The Legend of Zelda games.

  3. Was chinatown wars really that good ? I don’t agree with a lot of the list but hey what can I do. My personal favorites on the ds have to be nsmb Super Mario 64 ds and Contra 4 which surprisingly wasn’t on the list its definitley one of the better games in the library

  4. for me the Advance Wars series has always been my favorite gameboy/ds game…it might even be my favorite strategy game…ever

  5. Chrono Trigger is defintely my favourite. I wasn’t around in the SNES era, but I had heard a lot about it, so when I saw it on the DS I was quick to pick it up. Glad I did too. Following close behind is Pokemon (I bought Diamond, Platinum and HeartGold – I think I have a problem), Dragon Quest IX and Professor Layton. I liked Phantom Hourglass, but just couldn’t get through Spirit Tacks. Same with the Mario games, I just couldn’t stick with them for long.
