Hot off of Eddy’s post about a list (we told you they were coming), I bring to you Time Magazine’s Top 10 games of 2010. Personally, I feel that the list is kind of strange, but I thought I would put it up here to see what kind of reaction you guys have to it. The first thing that I noticed about the list is that Alan Wake, Microsoft’s Lovecraftian exclusive, comes in at number one, beating out other luminaries like Red Dead Redemption and Halo: Reach.
The number two game on the list, something that I’m sure will make Jeff happy, is Rovio’s mobile sensation Angry Birds. On a traditional “game of the year” list, throwing something like Angry Birds on there still looks strange to me, even though I personally love the game. Instead of running through the list one by one, though, I’ll post it for you fellas after the jump.
Time’s Top 10 Games of 2010
1. Alan Wake
2. Angry Birds
3. Red Dead Redemption
4. Halo: Reach
5. Super Mario Galaxy 2
6. Limbo
7. Super Meat Boy
8. Super Street Fighter 4
9. StarCraft 2
10. Mass Effect 2
I’m honestly shocked that Mass Effect 2 is so low, but I guess this proves that if you want your game to do well on Time’s list all you have to do is stick the word “super” in there. OK, maybe that was a little snarky, but at least Mass Effect 2 got on the list. As I was looking at it, I began to think it wouldn’t show up at all.
What’s your opinion on Time’s list? Are you happy with their picks, or does this list make you hulk out? Surprised that Angry Birds is on there? Go!

I’m surprised Super Street Fighter 4 is up there. I mean, I love me some Street Fighter but I wouldn’t consider among the highlights of the year.
Probably the shitiest Top 10 list I’ve ever seen. Alan Wake belongs on there, but not at 1. Super Street Fighter, Super Mario Galaxy, and most definitely Angry Birds can GTFO. Super Meat boy might be able to stay. Put ME2 at the top, and somewhere on the list put in God of War. And some Cataclysm somewhere in there wouldn’t hurt.
Meh. I’m trying not to get worked up about these lists like I usually do. I’ve suceeded so far.
I think that ME2 and Alan Wake should switch spots on the list, and have Black Ops on there instead of Street Fighter 4.
I’m surprised Mario Galaxy 2 is on that list. I mean, the game was great, but it’s not list-worthy.
looks like the list I’d expect from a magazine like Time…
I swear. Time shouldn’t do these!
Mario Brothers? Seriously?
NO Cod Black Ops?
Starcraft 2 at #9?
This is worst list for top ten ever!
SK, I’d totally put Angry Birds on my top 10, or seriously consider it. I would remove SF4 and Alan Wake from here for sure.

that.
Are we still getting angry about what other people think?
@Sinister Minister
Was that comment supposed to be ironic? You know, getting annoyed at other people getting annoyed at what other people think? No? Maybe? 🙂
When I see lists like this it makes me think that they threw it together in an afternoon and just asked around for opinions…
“Phil said Alan Wake was crazy! Hes about half way through but he swears its like best game ever.”
“What about the others, has anyone played this Mass Effect or Halo game?”
silence

So, your opinion is that you don’t like our opinion of someone else’s opinion ?
We need to go deeper.
