Trading games in has became a normal way of life for gamers, something I begrudgingly have come to terms with. I’ve always tried not to buy something that I know I will trade in right after finishing and if I truly love a game and think I will replay it again one day, in some mythical future when I have more time, I hold onto it.
But some games, even if I won’t likely play them again, I can’t get rid of, like Final Fantasy games. Not the spin-offs, mind you. I’m not crazy. But the main series entries. I have all of them, in various incarnations and the thought of getting rid of any of them makes my blood curdle. For a long time, I also felt that way about Grand Theft Auto, though that sentiment has faded in recent years.
One game I have held onto is Halo: Reach, simply for the occasional night of fun with Eddy and Mitch and Call of Duty: Black Ops for the PS3 to play with my brother on weekends. I will likely hold onto those until the next Halo and Call of Duty games come out because sometimes, I need that quick FPS fix.

Jigglypuff.
This is actually a really cool topic. I think this pertains to EVERYONE. Now strangely enough I have something about this. I stopped trading in games all together. Mostly because of that horrible buy back scheme with gamestop, I just dont like it. I had too many games become the “Oh lets play this! Wait…I dont have it anymore” so I just stopped. So all in all, I stopped trading ANYTHING in and I hold onto it.
But for the games that are just untouchable. I can name a few. Reach is the same. Dont play it religiously anymore, but its just too good. CODMW2 is another one (wish I still had MW). Ace Combat 4 (PS2) is one I will never get rid of as well. Another series of games I cant part with, the Rainbow 6 Vegas series. Both are great games. Also forgot to mention, Halo 2. Despite the online multiplayer being gone forever, I still can never sell that game. Honestly that is one game that will be iconic for me, always.

Last game I remember trading in was Wind Waker on the Gamecube because I was 12 and the stealth section near the beginning made me rage-quit.
But since then I can’t bear to let my games go, I’m the kind of guy who wakes up one morning with an urge to play Paper Mario TTYD and 7 hours later I realize I haven’t eaten. I couldn’t bear it if I had an urge to play Ratchet and Clank 3 or Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations but couldn’t because I had traded it in.
(And yes I did re-buy Wind Waker years down the line, last year in fact, and loved it)
I just don’t do it either because they do not take PC games and I mostly use Steam to buy my games. I guess if I had to choose one game to never turn in though it would be Call of Duty 2. I say this because it was my first “real” game that was not Tonka Space Station or Tonka Construction (great games by the way) and COD2 was the game I played the longest until I got Mass Effect 2 around October of 2010, that is about a five year gap!

Sure thing! Its Rapier4. Sending you a request!
It was a hard thing for me to trade in Halo 3 and ODST, but I did it and immediately regretted it. Until Reach came out, all I had for multiplayer on the 360 was Call of Duty, which isn’t really my cup of tea.
I don’t think I’ll trade in Reach just because of the resurgence it’s had within the GamerSushi Editor troop. I definitely shouldn’t have traded in Mass Effect 2 either, because now I have to go rent it.
