Since I’m positive the majority of you are somewhere near the same level of nerdiness as myself, I’m going to go ahead and assume that you all are happily aware that today was Star Wars Day. I thought there was some deeper meaning behind it besides the “May the Fourth be with you” pun, but a Wikipedia search tells me that I am dead wrong about that.
All the same, though, happy Star Wars Day! My love for Star Wars is something I can barely even put into words, because it’s such a huge part of my childhood and my desire to tell awesome stories with fun characters for a living. To me, Star Wars represents the best part of the magic only a good story can conjure, with tales of good and evil, joy and woe, sacrifice and spaceships. It’s such a hard thing to describe all the ways it helped shape me when I was little, and the way its universe continues to do so today.
Anthony sent this around in an e-mail today, and I thought I would post it here, too. Think of it as a Star Wars survey of sorts. Who says all we have to do is talk about video games? Hit the jump to check it out.
Answer these bad boys in regards to Star Wars. Movies or EU, we’ll take all of it!

Favorite Lightsaber Battle?
Favorite Music?
Favorite Moment?
Least Favorite Character?
Least Favorite Movie?
Lamest Moment?

Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game?
See, that last one was about video games. What are your answers to these questions? How much do you love Star Wars? Go!
Oh Star Wars, what would I do without you… To this day I still think it is the best story ever told. Even though I wasn’t born until well after the original movies were released, Star Wars has influenced so much of what I read, watch and play.
Favorite Movie? A New Hope
Favorite Character? Singular – Wedge Antilles, As a group – Wraith Squadron
Favorite Villain? Grand Admiral Thrawn
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber)? The defence of Borleias in Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand – New Jedi Order (Yeah, it pretty much took up 2 whole books)
Favorite Lightsaber Battle? Qui-Gon Jinn + Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Darth Maul
Favorite Music? Duel of the Fates
Favorite Moment? Lando and Wedge flying into the 2nd Death Star
Least Favorite Character? Jar Jar Binks
Least Favorite Movie? Attack of the Clones
Lamest Moment? Not getting to see Boba Fett fight his way out of the Sarlacc
Best Line? “As my feet walk from the ashes of Katarr, I shall not fear, for in fear, lies death.” – Visas Marr (Kotor II) I don’t know why, but that line always stuck with me.
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game? Knights of the Old Republic II (I got your back Mitch)
I undersign your opinions Eddy. It is such an overwhelming universe even today. I can only imagine what people felt when they first saw the movies in the cinema.
1 – I love all the 3 movies from the first trilogy but if I had to say one I guess that would be “Return of the Jedi”.
2 – This is a tough one. When I was younger it was Darth Vader but now Han Solo. For the expanded universe Kyle Katarn.
3 – In all honesty the character that maintains the same level of quality throughout the movies is the Emperor / Senator Palpatine.
4 – The second attack of the Deathstar. The Rebel star fleet entering warp speed was pretty epic and all the infiltration too.
5 – Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs Darth Maul.
6 – The Imperial March.
7 – Luke and Vader’s last battle.
8 – This is a pretty clichรฉ answer but Jar-Jar Binks was pretty annoying.
9 – Attack of the clones.
10 – That part on A New Hope when Luke and Han are saving Leia. They were trying to stop the walls from crushing them and that monster appears in the water it was pretty lame.
11 – “Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them… The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZo0cqXrYEE This whole dialog sequence is amazing.
12 – My favorite Star Wars game is Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast for it single player and multiplayer components. Rogue Squadron and KoTOR were very good too.
Favorite Movie? -EMPIRE!
Favorite Character? -Han Solo
Favorite Villain? -Pfff, Vader
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber)? -Yavin is still near and dear to me
Favorite Lightsaber Battle? -Anakin vs Obi-Wan
Favorite Music? -Duel of the Fates
Favorite Moment? -“I am your father was great”, but Order 66 was an emotional gut punch
Least Favorite Character? – JAR JARRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHH
Least Favorite Movie? -Phantom Menace
Lames Moment? -Jar Jar Scenes
Best Line? -“Luke, I am your father”. “I love you (Leia). I know (Han)” comes in a close second.
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game? -KOTOR, with Rogue Squadron very close in second.
Not the hugest Star Wars fan, but still love the original movies. Either way, I’ll give it a go:
Favorite Movie – Empire Strikes Back
Favorite Character – Darth Vader
Favorite Villain – Besides Vader? George Lucas
Favorite Battle (non-Light Saber) – Vader vs. The Emperor
Favorite Lightsaber Battle – As much as I didn’t like the movie, that first duel between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan/Qui Gonn (sp?) was pretty badass.
Favorite Music – Variation of the theme, sad style (as in when Luke sees his home destroyed).
Favorite Moment – The first time an At-at falls.
Least Favorite Character – Grown up pussy-Anakin
Least Favorite Movie – Attack of the Clones
Lamest Moment – “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” – Vader when he wasn’t cool.
Best Line – “If I could go back in time, I would murder George Lucas with a shovel before he could make the prequels” – Patton Oswalt
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game – Battlefront
Favorite Movie: Empire Strikes Back
Favorite Character: Han Solo
Favorite Villain: Darth Vader
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber): First assault on the Death Star
Favorite Lightsaber Battle: Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon v Darth Maul or Obi-Wan v Darth Vader (end of Episode 3) or Luke v Darth Vader (End of Return)
Favorite Music: Come on, Imperial March.
Favorite Moment: The betrayal at Cloud City.
Least Favorite Character: Jar Jar Binks. Fuck that Gungan
Least Favorite Movie: Attack of the Clones. So awful.
Lamest Moment: Anakin piloting the ship into battle against the Trade Federation and taking down their starship. That was so stupid. Or any part in Attack of the Clones when Anakin and Amidala are at her retreat on Naboo and start falling in love.
Best Line: “I Know” – Han Solo (Empire Strikes Back). What a badass.
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game: Star War Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. Played that game so many times.
Empire, yo.
Wedge Antillies.
Darth Vader.
Battle of Endor.
Luke vs Vader on Death Star 2.
Three way tie between Imperial March, Asteroid Field and Here They Come.
“Luke…I am your father.”
Jar Jar, Anakin, Padme.
Attack of the Clones.
Like, 90% of Attack of the Clones, or any scene with that little shit that played young Anakin.
“I don’t know…fly casual.”
Knight of the Old Republic 2 (bros for life, supernovaforce).
Star Wars was a significant part of my childhood as well, being one of the stronger bonding points with my dad. My zeal for the stories took some hits over the years with the release of the prequels and a failed attempt to convert a roommate who had never seen the films, but has recovered and turned into a great impatience for my firstborn to reach appropriate viewing age.
Favorite Movie – Empire by a nose over Return of the Jedi. But this is where I must let slip my shameful confession: I’ve yet to see Revenge of the Sith. Perhaps it is time.
Favorite Character – Obi-wan
Favorite Villain – Palpatine may be the embodiment of pure evil, but Darth Vader wins as a complete character, ignoring the prequels.
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber) – Yavin
Favorite Lightsaber Battle – Luke vs. Vader
Favorite Music – The Imperial March always stands out as exactly what cinematic themes should aspire to be.
Favorite Moment – So many, but what’s coming to mind right now is the escape from Jabba’s sail barge and the Sarlacc.
Least Favorite Character – Obvious answer aside, it’s a tie between Watto and Bib Fortuna.
Least Favorite Movie – Phantom Menace
Lamest Moment – Anakin’s creepy pseudo-romantic overtures to Amidala: “Here everything’s soft, and smooth…” still makes my skin crawl.
Best Line – “But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!”
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game – KOTOR
Favorite Movie? New Hope, the prequels were flashy but that is about it, also I do not like the rest of the original trilogy all that much either, just specific scenes that stand out for me.
Favorite Character? hmmm…
Favorite Villain? Kreia, does this count? otherwise Darth Vader
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber)? New Hope Death Star
Favorite Lightsaber Battle? In original, Darth Vader vs Obi Wan; Prequels Def Darth Sidious vs Mace Windu (took me a while to remember his name, kept thinking of Mos Def)
Favorite Music? Eh Imperial March or Duel of Fates or maybe even the Cantina Band song
Favorite Moment? Luke I am your father
Least Favorite Character? Amadala
Least Favorite Movie? Hmmm the third of the prequels stands out to me, or the empire strikes back. Never knew why I did not like that one so much.
Lamest Moment? Making a prequel series, definitely should of planned them out better.
Best Line? Same as Favorite Moment
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game? Kotor and Kotor 2. While I liked the focused plot of number one better than the unfinishedness of number 2, I liked the atmosphere in the second game better.
Favorite Movie? Empire. Best movie ever.
Favorite Character? R2D2. He is the hero. They would have died on Naboo without him.
Favorite Villain? Boba Fett. Bad ass always.
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber)? Hoth. Like nothing I’ve seen, even to this day.
Favorite Lightsaber Battle? Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. That music and the speed of the battle…whew.
Favorite Music? Ending theme of Empire before the End Credits.
Favorite Moment? Yoda dying makes me cry. Also, the ghosts appearing at the end of Jedi.
Least Favorite Character? Jar Jar.
Least Favorite Movie? The Phantom Menace. See above.
Lamest Moment? “Now THIS is podracing!” No, it’s not. Moron.
Best Line? “I love you.”
“I know.”
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game? Super Empire Strikes Back.
Is it okay that I love you for posting this?
Anyway
Movie: New Hope for me.
Favorite Character: Han Solo in a heartbeat
Favorite Villain: Darth Vader
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber?)? Either of the Death Star attacks, but i prefer the one in New Hope because it is more focused and uninterrupted
Favorite Lightsaber Battle: As a fight scene the Darth Maul/Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan is hard to beat, but the total ass-kicking Darth Vader gives to Luke in Empire was pretty powerful for me
Favorite Music: Cantina Band!
Favorite Moment: Han Solo burning down Greedo. He shot first.
Least Favorite Character: Young Anakin and Jar Jar tie. They’re both so terrible
Least Favorite Movie: Attack of the Clones
Lamest Moment: I totally agree with you Anthony, whenever that line comes around i cant stop myself from groaning.
Best Line: “Hit it, Chewie”
1) Empire Strikes Back
2) Admiral Ackbar of course!!
3) Boba Fett…he’s awesome, but he died so lame
4) Hoth…so EPIC
5) Battle between Obi and Anakin…b/c Anakin gets his sorry ass kicked!
6) The music at the end of New Hope when they get the medal..don’t know what it’s called ๐
7) When the Ewok dies and his friend cries over him…so sad ๐
8) Anakin
9) Phantom Menace
10) “DONT MAKE ME KILL YOU!!” – so stupid
11) “IT’S A TRAP!!!!!!!” best line EVER!
12) Jedi Academy…the lightsaber fights were soo much fun
I know I’m late to the party, and it’s not likely anyone will read mine, I have to do it because I love Star Wars that much. Also Ackbar, Boba Fett actually lives on in the expanded universe, he is SO badass that he fights his way out of the sarlacc to live another day.
Favorite Movie? Empire Strikes Back
Favorite Character? Luke Skywalker tied with Han Solo
Favorite Villain? Darth Vader
Favorite Battle (Non Lightsaber)? Battle of Hoth or Endor (Space)
Favorite Lightsaber Battle? Luke v Vader on Cloud City
Favorite Music? Battle of Endor
Favorite Moment? Probably when Han Returns at the battle of the first Dearth Star to save Luke’s butt.
Least Favorite Character? Jar Jar Binks.
Least Favorite Movie? Attack of the Clones
Lamest Moment? Take your pick from any scene’s not involving Ewan Mcgregor from Episodes 1 and 2.
Best Line? ‘It’s a trap’ or ‘Luke I am your father’ or ‘They came from…behind!’
Bonus: Favorite Star Wars Game? Knights of the Old Republic followed closely by Battlefront.
