If there’s one game that was heavily influenced by the Aliens franchise, it’s Halo. But if there are two games that were influenced, one of them would be Metroid. And somehow, we’ve come all this way in video game history without anyone trying to merge the two…until now.
Way Forward has been working on a Metroidvania-style Aliens game called Aliens: Infestation which will be released on October 11 and judging from the gameplay footage seen at Comic-Con, it looks pretty awesome. Take a look:

Pretty cool, eh? One of the neatest things I’ve read about this is that you have a squad of 19 different marines and if one dies, he’s gone forever. But if one is captured and you save them before they are infected with a chestburster, you get them back. A neat twist on 1-ups, I think.
Does this interest anyone at all? The DS is pretty barren these days, so I am glad to have anything at all coming out that looks this good. GO!
Yeah, I’m pretty interested. It looks like a much more…elaborate version of “Alien Swarm”…which does also take a lot of inspiration from the “Aliens” film series.
I’m a bit disappointed they didn’t hold this off to make for the Wii U(you know, with the screen and everything for on-the-fly management), and then let it implement online co-op, but I guess that’s really what Gearbox is doing.
I mean, sure, I haven’t really played a good Metroidvania in a while anyway, I’m excited.
I wish this was on 3DS, I don’t know why they chose to do the normal DS…
On a random note, Gameinformer did an article today called “Would You Rather”. For some reason that sounds familiar… http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/08/02/would-you-rather.aspx
What in the balls is that? It’s like they put me, Eddy and Anthony in a room, then beat us until we became retarded.

Jesus, at least ours is about VIDEO GAMES.
Well, to be fair, Anthony, theirs is about video games, but it’s more like “WOULD YOU RATHER BANG SAMUS OR ZELDA LOLZ”.
Missed this at Comic-Con…looks interesting though.
Noticed you said the DS was looking a little bare…yeah…it’s gonna with the 3DS. Nintendo’s really gonna be pushing it. Although with the price drop I recommend picking one up, they are quite awesome (Netflix and Ocarina of Time, need I say more?)
Also the 3DS is gonna get a bunch of good games later this year. I played Star Fox 64 3D, the new Kid Icarus game, the new Mario Kart and the new Metal Gear Solid game (at the Nintendo booth at Comic Con) and all were really fun on the 3DS. Plus tons of old games on virtual console. 3DS is gonna be rocking with games by the end of the year (pity they didn’t have more on release).

I’m still not on board. I love my DS so much, but the 3DS just isn’t hitting any sweet spots.
All of the games you mentioned except for Kid Icarus are remakes, ports or just more of the same (Mario Kart). I may wait for the 3DS lite in a year. By then there will be a lot more games, I hope.
Oh wow. This is a really great idea for a game.
