When you’ve got a fall that’s going to be as epic as 2011, it becomes necessary to dig into the furthest reaches of your brain to properly forumlate the best approach. If you look at the Fall of games like a mine field, which steps can you take to avoid getting blown to smithereens? At least, that’s the way I look at it, but I’m kind of weird.
Hyperbole aside, I really do have a game plan of sorts when it comes to this Fall’s releases. It seems like you almost have to in order to avoid dropping $500 in just a few months. Off the top of my head, here are just a few of the games we’re going to see: Deus Ex, Gears of War 3, Batman: Arkham City, Shadow of the Colossus/Ico, MGS HD, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Torchlight 2, etc. And that’s not mentioning Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3.
As of now, I’ve got Gears of War 3 and Batman pre-ordered, with plans to use Batman’s credit to get closer to Skyrim. Beyond that, I have no idea what I’m going to do, but I know for sure that I’m going to buy Battlefield 3 and Uncharted 3, even if I have to sell my body.
So what about you guys? What’s your game plan for the Fall? What games are you for sure buying? What have you already pre-ordered? What’s your strategy? Go!
For sure?
Deus Ex, Skyrim, Uncharted 3, MW3 and BF3, not necessarily in that order.
For maybe/hopefully?
MGS HD, Arkham City and Ico/SotC in that order of preference.
My game plan? Get a job. Buy as many of them as possible and maybe leave one or two until christmas (MW3 probably, the rest take precedence but if a decent opportunity arises I’ll not shy away from it).
Ok, I have lots of credit at Gamestop, Best Buy and Amazon. So:
Gears of War 3 will bring me 20 bucks with Amazon, where I have 20 already for getting Deus Ex.
That brings me to 40 with them. I will buy Halo Anniversary with that and be done with them until I trade in some games.
I have 40 bucks at Best Buy, which will get me Team Ico.
I have 330 at GameStop/The mall where GameStop is located near me, so:
Dark Souls
Batman: Arkham City
Uncharted 3
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Skyrim
And for Xmas, I will request Metal Gear Solid HD, WWE 12 and Legend of Zelda.
And then in 2012…Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Twisted Metal…….
FUCK.
Yikes, I cant believe I forgot about Assassins Creed.
Im usually good with balancing games, I think itll be Gears for a while. The trick is to play the singleplayer games one by one with breaks playing BF3, MW3, and Gears 3 with your friends.
Madden Online Franchise is a ton of fun too.
Given how Deus Ex surprised us all, I’m rolling with the releases and I’m willing to add new games into my plans based on reviews.
I almost picked up Resistance 3 when I went to get Space Marine today. I’ve got Gears and BF3 pre-ordered, but the rest is up in the air right now.
I’m so happy that these latest games are looking so awesome. Luckily, this year, I KNOW that these games will be amazing! I’m not crazy!
I’ve already gotten Deus Ex HR, and I’m going to get Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and Mass Effect 3. (btw, Hawken is also on my radar, but no release date has been announced) These four games will probably sustain me for the rest of the year and maybe beyond, so it’ll be worth giving up eating for a few months. lol
Forgot to mention Zelda! I’ll borrow my auntie’s copy when she finishes it (ie. 3 days after release if the other games are trends to judge by). I may be borrowing a lot of these games actually…
Here’s the games I’m getting right now:
Deus Ex (Already got it)
Gears 3
Batman
Battlefield
Uncharted
Skyrim
Halo Anniversary
Star Wars TOR
This holiday will break me
Snap! I forgot Halo Anniversary! I knew I was leaving something out.
Thank you Anthony for mentioning Dark Souls, a game that seems forgotten too often when mentioning fall releases! After that (which I have preordered from Amazon so I could get the Collector’s Edition), it’s Skyrim, catch up on Xenoblade Chronicles, probably get Torchlight 2, and then replace my RRoD’d Xbox in order to get Mass Effect 3 in 2012. I know it’s being released for PS3, but there’s no way I’ll let Shana Shepard go after only 2 episodes.
Definitely buying Skyrim and Arkham City. Assassin’s Creed will depend on me getting through the rest of the series. Zelda… I’ll see how I’m feeling at the time.
Also @dp – Go. Buy. Xenoblade. I seriously have not had this much fun with a game since Mass Effect 2. I know taste is a matter of opinion, but to me this game is a masterpiece.

Would have got it already, but, since I’m a teacher, end of the summer is not a good time to get new releases for me. Gots ta get paid!!
