Assassin’s Creed 3 Reveal Trailer Shows Tree Running

Get it, because it’s called “free-running” but it’s in trees? Ah, never mind. UbiSoft just released the official reveal trailer for Assassin’s Creed 3 showing our new hero Connor (nee Ratohnhaké:ton) tearing apart a British patrol then watching a battle between the Redcoats and the Continental Army. This trailer is supposedly all in-engine, making it even more impressive. The fluidity of motion promised for the hand-to-hand combat also comes through in this video with Conner recreating the forest scene from The Patriot to some extent.

Well, I’m sold. It’s kind of funny how life works in regards to what I write on this site and what things happen in the games industry. At any rate, what do you guys think about the Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer? Does it give you more hope for the newest entry? Any secrets that you noticed?

  1. As always I’m waiting for actual gameplay before getting excited but the concept seems solid. Assuming it’s not just trailer-fluff I hope they can actually pull off tree running without all the trees feeling unnaturally placed.

I wonder if this is Ubisoft’s release plan for AC, release a numbered game and then release two sequels whilst the next numbered game is developed. Honestly I would love that; a trilogy in each time period and a new time period every 3 years.

  2. The reason why this trailer looks so good in-engine is because they are using a new engine they made for the game. I hope they get smart and utilize DirectX11.

  3. I feel like this franchise really got away from me. I loved AC and ACII was really fun, but Brotherhood didn’t interest me at all and without playing that, I didn’t want to jump right into Revelations.

I kind of feel like I’m watching Call of Duty go from WWII to Modern day. It was such a disappointing idea at first but turned out to be very successful. I know this will be fun, I just feel like I can’t keep up.

  4. I havent really played any of the other games to a full extent. Does this actually fit in with the story line or is it some kind of random spin off thats going after the patriotic affect?
