GamerSushi Asks: E3 2012 Predictions?

E3 2012

Is it really already time for another E3? No matter how hard I try to avoid it, the calendar confirms that another round of the Electronic Entertainment Expo is upon us, this time hitting us with all of its buzz June 5-7. For our hobby, this is the equivalent of a holy week, one of those high festivals that requires our time, celebration and perhaps even woe. Although that last one is probably more apt if you’re waiting on a Half-Life 3 announcement.

So, with E3 right around the corner, we thought we would ask you guys what your E3 predictions are. Honestly, I have no idea what to expect from this year. Now that Nintendo’s unabashedly broken the next generation ice with the showing of Wii U, this is a year where people are anticipating similar reveals from both Sony and Microsoft. Despite the numerous claims to the contrary, I tend to fall in that camp as well. But then you never truly know.

In terms of specific announcements from other notable developers, I expect a Dragon Age 3 tease of some sort from Bioware, since their other big franchise has laid down to rest for the moment. I also expect something new out of Valve, since they have no releases lined up after CS: GO and Dota 2 this year. I’m also banking on another entry to the Metal Gear Solid series.

So what about you guys? What do you expect or hope to see from E3 this year? Tell us your E3 predictions. Go!

  1. While Microsoft attempts to storm your living room like Stannis Baratheon did King’s Landing and Nintendo is off in a corner playing with itself, this is Sony’s chance to stop trying to use synergy to tie all their products together and just give us some great games to play.

They will probably screw it up.

  2. I have the incredible fortune to be able to go to E3 again this year, so I’ve been staying away from predictions in order to not be disappointed if I don’t see them come true. I hope we get to see some major Xbox Live improvements that deal with the current dashboard concerns, as well as some first party titles from Microsoft. For the love of God don’t spend more than ten minutes on Kinect. Sony is probably going to be trying to sell me a Vita the whole conference, when really I just want to see some Last of Us, Last Guardian, and Quantum Dream’s unannounced project. And Nintendo is probably going try to make me want a Wii U, and I will simply laugh. Just throw some good 3DS games my way and I’ll be happy.

Oh and Halo 4. I am so excited to be returning to the Chief and Cortana (forget the haters, for some reason I love the Chief as a character) and I hope to get some hands on time while I’m there.

  3. I would like to be surprised and excited by games that are new and original, things we haven’t heard any tease for and have been a very well kept secret for many years of development.

Or they could just talk about things we heard about months ago and continue to build up the hype with 10 minutes of talking and 2 minutes of trailer (5 seconds of which is gameplay)

    🙁

  4. I can see a GTAV trailer impressing everyone. Cross platform stuff is nice, would like to hear something about that. Battlefront 3 would be pretty sweet. I just hope I dont see any Fable The Journey.

Best Game of Thrones reference ever.
I do feel like Microsoft will essentially be throwing stuff in our face like people with keys do to entertain small children while Nintendo will try and hype the WiiU saying things like “It’s cool” and “It has a touchpad” but no one will really care.
Sony better have some good games to show off or something actually interesting otherwise E3 will go down the crapper just like Westeros did after Robert Baratheon died. I had to at least try at a reference…

  6. I also hope for something new out of Quantic Dream – so long as there will be a PC release…

Also, Fallout 4? Something from Bethesda anyway. Just tease me! And maybe something along the lines of Mirror’s Edge 2. More about CS:GO, GTA V, and the other expected titles.

Should be an interesting E3 after what a crazy year we had last year.

  7. Thumbs up for ASoIaF reference Anthony.
Personally: I’m not going to get hyped up, I’m not going to expect HL3 related news and I’m not going to watch anything Bioshock Infinite related (unless it’s like last year where it was pretty much just gameplay). I’m just going to watch the show, enjoy the games and look forward to the year ahead. And the one after that, because that’s when Bioshock Infinite comes out.

  8. Nintendo Conference, 5 minutes in. Everyone’s looking bored because they have stopped caring about 3DS games.

Suddenly, a mist covers the floor, and when it fades, there stands Gaben in an oversized orange Hazard suit. The entire crowd simultaneously shits themselves.

Gabe announces that Half-Life 3 will run on the CryENGINE 3 and be a Wii-U exclusive release. The crowd goes wild.

He then announces a Q4 2012 release date. The crowd all have heart attacks. No one is saved.

Also I want Bioshock Infinite, but with them pushing it back I doubt I’ll see much from them at E3.
