I’m sure I’m breaching some international accord by posting an Independence Day themed “What Are You Playing”, but Canada is no longer directly under the dominion of the British monarchy, so I feel safe (don’t worry, the Commonwealth isn’t contagious).
In the spirit of the holiday, I pose this question to you, kind reader: what are you doing today on the most patriotic of days, aside from shooting off fireworks from eagle-back? Me, I’m at work right now, but I think my evening will consist of The Amazing Spider-Man, Beenox’s latest stab at making a half-decent title about the webslinger. For the most part they succeed, but at the end of the day it’s still a pale imitation of the Arkham style Batman games. That said, it’s loads better than last year’s Edge of Time, so expect an in-depth review for that one when time permits.
I can’t speak for the rest of the GamerSushi editors, but Eddy, Nick and I have been getting in to PC gaming in a big way, and Eddy even picked up the Combined Operation package for Arma 2, so expect some Day Z stuff from us soon.
What about you guys? What is your current gaming fare?
Just completed the absolutely fantastic Spec Ops: The Line (seriously this game needs more attention, look at the Most Anticipated July article for my extended thoughts), now I’m getting to Max Payne 3 with SWTOR on the side. All in all just clearing some backlog. I picked up Day Z a few weeks ago and I have yet to really tear into it, I think we should do a Gamersushi session sometime since I can rarely find someone to team up with.
Playing Diablo 3 and enjoying the hell out of it. Other than that, I’ve been setting some TT records on Mario Kart 7, tackling The Witcher and continuing the attempt to complete Medieval 2 with as many factions as possible. I went back to it after the Rome 2 announcement. I should probably be practicing RTW though, to get used to using my cohorts/histati/cavalry combo again.
Unfortunately, since I live in Utah, all fireworks and explosive things are banned in fear of starting even more fires. Also my gaming has been pretty bleak due to having my laptop getting “fixed” for the past 7 weeks, which Gateway finally agreed to do for $200 even though I am out of warranty.
Thanks to the iPhone though I have been able to play some Plauge Inc. and Plants Vs. Zombies here and there.
Back into Dark Souls. I knew it would happen eventually, and it’s finally here. Bad news is, while I’m replaying that, I’m ignoring FFXIII-2, Superbrothers: S&S EP, SpaceChem, Arkham Asylum, and Fez…not to mention SotC HD.
Finally getting around to playing through Arkham City. Damn good game, should have played it sooner.
I was playing GTA: San Andreas (late pass) for a while, but I got frustrated by the atrocious airplane/helicopter controls on the PC and have had to put the game down. Now, I’m finishing up Rayman Origins, which is a treat. The level pacing is making me a little fatigued since I’m in the last world now, but the game’s style and humor are one-of-a-kind.
Once Rayman’s done, I want to do a run of MOTHER 3 on an emulator, using a frame skip optionthat makes the game 10 times faster. Weirdness will ensue.
I’ve been replaying the entire Mass Effect series. I’m just at the beginning of ME 3 right now. Replaying the series has reminded me of how great all the games are. I haven’t played much else other than some Battlefield 3 with a couple friends online.
I finished Max Payne 3 which I am very distraught over. Pretty bitter sweet. I’ve mostly been playing the CS:GO Beta and meeting some people that make for great “Classic Competitive” team play.
I’ll totally pick up ArmAII for some Day Z if we’re going to get into it. I haven’t yet simply because I only know 1 steam friend who has it.

^^This guy 😀
I’ve been playing through Rome: Total War and Arkham City quite a bit. I’m working and saving up to buy a new gaming PC. Which hopefully will pretty much end my need to own any game consoles.
