Well, I finally made the plunge into the PC gaming world, courtesy of my PC Guru: Nick the Beard. I am quite happy with the performance of my machine, which Nick priced out for me and built himself in a rather impressive amount of time. I have him a budget of $600, which also paid for shipping from California to Florida and I think I got quite the bargain. Of course, everything you see below might as well be written in Klingon because I don’t understand a damn bit of it. But I know you guys would be interested to see what I am working with so check it out below:
Intel 3.1GHz Core i3-2100 CPU
BioStar H61MGC Mobo
Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 1GB GPU
G.Skill 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM
Samsung 1TB 7200RPM HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I am already playing Counterstrike: GO and might jump into Diablo 3 sometime in the future. I might also pick up DayZ when it becomes a stand-alone game. I am going to take my time and probably stick to PC exclusives, but it’s nice to have the option to play something on the PC if I so desire. Also, totally getting SimCity in 2013. So add me on Steam: Edgewalker.
What other PC games should I have on my radar, either past, present or future? And let’s see your PC specs…CS…GO!
My PC is actually a laptop~.
Toshiba Qosmio X775
17.3″ screen @ 1600×900, second monitor 42″ at 1920×1080
Intel Core i5-2410M @ 3.5Ghz
Nvidia GTX 560M 1.5GB
6GB DDR3 RAM
Western Digital 600GB HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Run everything and anything without problems, though the only issue is that it heats up horridly on the left side.
Ooh you did good for that price!
QuadCore i7 920 2.66Ghz on an X58 Motherboard
6GB DDR3 1333 RAM
nVidia 275 GTX
3 x 1000GB 7200RPM SATA HDD
Vista Home Premium 64bit (built before 7 came out)
And of course a Razer Imperator mouse and Lycosa keyboard.
Was quite a beast when I built it 3 years ago.
Man I love the feeling of getting a PC upgrade, which I did earlier this year.
Intel Core i5-2500 @3.3 GHz CPU
Nvidia GTX 580 4048 MB
16GB DDR3 RAM
Samsung 120 GB SDD
Samsung 1 TB HDD
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
I just recently got my upgrade PC.
AMD Phenom II @ 3.5 GHz CPU
Nvidia Geforce 610 GT 1 GB DDR3
4 GB DDR3 RAM
Hitachi 1 TB HDD
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, because I find that the Pro version is the most stable.
If any of you guys’d like to add me on Steam and play a round of CS:GO or Trouble in Terroist Town on Garry’s Mod my ID is playersbro, just like my screen name here. Happy PC gaming, guys! Also, Anthony, you did well for a 600 dollar budget, so good job, also to Nick for helping you out with it.
Man, there sure are an awful lot of Edgewalker’s on Steam!
Mine is AlephNull if anyone wants to add me.
Quad Core i5 2.8GHz CPU
AMD 6850 1GB
8GB DDR3 RAM
A 1TB hard drive, the make of which I cannot remember
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
I’m just using my Samsung SyncMaster 2333HD TV as a monitor. Works a treat! But I need (like, REALLY NEED) a battlesation after seeing my friends for the first time.
While I love my comp, it runs everything really well, looking at the rigs some of you guys have makes me jealous!
As we all know, I’m a weirdo w/ my old Mac Pro as my main gaming machine, but she’s still running strong.
here are the specs:
Dual Quad-Core Intel Xeon X5365 @3.0GHz
11GB DDR2 667 FB-DIMM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
3.5TB of Seagate Barracudas
Dual 23″ LG IPS235 LCDs
M-Audio AV 30 Monitor Speakers
Matias Tactile Pro Mechanical Keyboard
Wacom Intuos5 Pen Tablet/Logitech MX500 Mouse
Mac OS X 10.7.4 Lion/Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Nick, that’s a great machine, but you could use a graphics upgrade.
And Anthony, you’d be better off with a cheaper cpu (g620 or g840) and a more powerful graphics card.
I though have a bit of a dated system with a phenom II x2 550, it used to run great with all 4 cores enabled, but recently it started to crash if I enabled even only 1 of the disabled cores. I also have 4 gigs of ddr3 ram, a 1gb version of the GTX460 and an asynchronous dual monitor setup.
Well, because of the 32-EFI she can’t accept newer GPUs, it’d be pointless to get a new card. I just need a whole new machine so I can have 64-bit architecture.
I’m in need of an upgrade, but here’s what I’m using:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
8gb DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Das Keyboard Model S Professional
Razer Abyssus mouse
You could sell off the LGA775 platform, and get yourself an ivy bridge i5. Depending on your needs, you could have either an Z77 or a H61/H67 motherboard and you just have to add in the needed amount of DDR3 RAM and you’re good to go, the graphics card is still good for about 2 years.
But since it’s windows and you’d be swtiching motherboards, you’ll have to reinstall the OS.
Damn shame about the EFI, since otherwise it’s a really great platform 🙁
a little dusty & messy, but my battle/workstation:

Nick, its good to see that I am not the only one with a vinyl collection.
Here’s mine.
Dell Studios XPS 7100
AMD Phenom II X4 945 Processor 3.0GHz
6 Gigabytes of RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
1.5 TB of memory
It runs well on what I have played, and looks great using my 32 in Vizio as a monitor. Also I really need to get back into Diablo 3. Its been a long while since I’ve played it.
