Sushians! The dreaded fall abyss approaches.
You know, the one that we’re all going to disappear into while we’re busy playing games. The first harbinger of doom comes in the form of one Grand Theft Auto V, which somehow is only a few days away. I’m not really sure how that happened, but I’m not complaining about it. After that, we’ll have games like Watch Dogs, Batman: Arkham Origins, AC IV, Battlefield 4 and then some.
But before all that, what are you guys playing right now? To prepare myself for battle at the moment, I’ve been diving into Saint’s Row IV, trying to finish it in a mad dash just in time for GTA V. I’m also trying to wrap up Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and hope to knock out Call of Juarez: Gunslinger sometime in the near future as well… but my eyes are often bigger than my stomach when it comes to gaming.
So what about you guys? What are you playing while you await the inevitable fall madness? Go!
Just picked up Rogue Legacy yesterday, and have already spent inordinate amounts of time on it. other than that, just trying to make a dent in the massive pile of unplayed steam games…
Playing plenty of Rome 2. While the game certainly has some problems, I’m confident the rigorous patching scheme laid out by CA can fix these minor nuisances. I’m REALLY enjoying the game regardless. Playing as good old Macedon: Gonna succeed where Phillip II and Alexander failed!
This is interspersed with some good old Rogue Legacy and my usual bout on League of Legends, which has now become more of a weekend thing, but what a weekend thing it is! Still loving the crap out of that game. Are any other Sushians playing League, btw? I just don’t hear anyone mention it (DotA seems to be the MOBA of choice here) so I assume I’m alone! 😛
I’ve been doing a leisurely replay of Red Dead Redemption as I had an itch to play through it again. The story is still fantastic and the sound design is still as superb today! I’m also patiently awaiting the midnight release of GTA V. The folks who work at the GameStop I go to are super nice and I always shoot the breeze with them when I stop in, so it’ll be awesome to talk gaming with them and ecerybody else there excited for it to release and share adventures and stories in gaming :). I’ve also taken a liking to Binding of Isaac. It has fantastic replay value and it’s challenging, definitely recommend it. Also, I took your guys’ word on Incognita. Pre-ordered it the other day and for being in early alpha even, it’s a blast! Reminds me of XCOM in mechanics
I rented Saints Row a week ago in order to be able to play it before GTA, and I’ve been having a blast. Being the achievement whore I am, however, I’ve been busting my ass to knock out all of the games challenges, which take forever (killing 30 wardens, for example) to complete. However yesterday I managed to finish up everything I needed in the game except for the ridiculously absurd challenge that requires you to fly 2.5 million feet in an alien vehicle in a game where you don’t use vehicles. So as I type this I have my controller rubber banded so that I keep flying in circles. I tried doing it over night but they disconnect your controller after a while. Sneaky bastards.
Before Saints Row though, I was playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Eddy I remember you saying that you wanted me to let you know how it is, and honestly it’s phenomenal. The game is a perfect marriage between Chaos Theory and Conviction, with loads of cool gadgets, guns, and suits that you can customize. You can also upgrade all of those with the XP you get from performing well in missions, They also brought back hiding bodies and Chaos Theory-esque takedowns, and they’re tons of approaches to each and every level. The co-op is also tons of fun as well. For a more in depth look at it, Adam’s Sessler’s review is pretty spot on. Highly recommended.
I’ve actually been playing a lot of Divekick. I’ve really been into fighting games, mostly because I’m a button masher and don’t feel like learning “strategies” in a fighting game, but this one is perfect for me, and is much much deeper than it first appears.
I also picked up Rogue Legacy in the last few nights and made my way through it. At first I really didn’t like it, but I’m starting to understand more what the game expects of you and just doing quick death runs to unlock better gear before “really” trying to progress into the castle.
And yesterday, I picked up Godus, which is absolutely brilliant so far. It’s everything I wanted out of Black & White without the frustrations of not really knowing what is going wrong. It’s much more about expanding and uncovering hidden secrets under the ground by sculpting the landscape than it is about micromanaging your villagers to stop them from dying. Of course ,not all the features are fleshed out yet, it’s in Early Access right now, so that might change.
Also, Papers, Please is an excellent break from ‘conventional’ gaming.
