GamerSushi Extra Bytes, Ep 1: Old Man’s Cast

gamersushi show off topic

This week we’re trying something a bit different. As you can hear in the intro, this is ExtraBytes, an off-topic GamerSushi Show.

As Eddy and I couldn’t make it last week, Nick, Jeff and Anthony decided to convene anyways and record a cast about all sorts of stuff. It’s pretty neat, and a bit out there, but sometimes it’s good to talk about things other than video games.

The guys talk about Gravity for a big chunk at the start of the podcast, but even though they give a spoiler warning, they really don’t spoil anything you won’t know from the trailers.

Anyways, you know the drill. Listen, rate and let us know if you’d like to listen to more off-topic casts in the future!

0:00 – 0:57 Intro
0:57 – 14:41 Gravity
14:41 – 22:50 The Oscars
22:50 – 38:55 Books
38:55 – 41:01 Outro

  1. Nice spinoff you got going here! I wouldn’t mind hearing more of it 😀

I happen to be SUPER-excited for Gravity, but I haven’t seen it yet. I’ve been a fan of Cuaron’s films since I saw Children of Men.

  2. Yeah, this is the kind of conversation we end up having before and after our normal podcasts, so it was nice recording it for once. We’ll probably do this again at some point.

  3. Oh man, I liked this cast a lot guys! You got me super stoked on the books I want/am reading. If any of you happen to find yourselves out in the Twin Cities in MN (not sure why you’d want to, haha) there’s a fantastic used book place named Half-Price that has a bit of everything for such awesome prices new and old. It’s an awesome way to spend a Saturday. I’m actually currently working my way through all of my favorite sci-fi love story The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I have the complete works in one book so I’ll be at it for awhile! I also would like to read the Enders books and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

  4. Yeah, I’d love to have a regular discussion about books. I’m always reading something. Glad you guys liked it.

@Playersbro, I was a HUGE fan of Philip K. Dick’s stuff when I was in high school. I haven’t read one of his books in a while, though. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is a pretty great place to start, but I’d also recommend Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said, Man In The High Castle and VALIS. His short story collections are pretty great, too. Most of the PKD movies are based on his short stuff.

  5. I have only read the first Ender book, but I loved it. I hear the rest of the series isn’t as strong, but I have yet to find out for myself.
