Calling All Pervivores- RPG Innuendoes

ar-tonelico_wallpaper_01

If you laugh at this, you are a perv. Go ahead, try not to laugh. This is a clip from a PS2 RPG called Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia that’s just begging for you to watch. Though be careful… there are some who might consider the material racy. But only if their mind is in a naughty place.

For the record, I lol’d. Muchly.

LBP Levels Moderated, Swallowed by Vast Maw

Got LittleBigPlanet? Love lots of intellectual property? Love creating levels? Love mixing those two things together? Well, be careful, because it seems that Media Molecule is obliterating- excuse me, moderating- dozens of LBP user created levels without warning, They are now being absorbed into the wide maw of the Internet, never to be heard from again.

There have been many reports of players unable to access their maps any longer, with little to no messaging from the dudes behind Sackboy and his lovable little friends. Hopefully, this issue gets resolved, though I imagine it’s sticky ground for LBP and its creators to deal with violations of copyright, as it’s some of the trickiest stuff in law.

Do you think this ruins the fun of LBP in some small way? I’ve heard some of the best levels are Batman, Pacman and Sonic related.

Little Big Planet as a Shooter

At some point, the Internet will stop going crazy over LittleBigPlanet levels, but I admit, that day is not today. I’m still fascinated by what people can do in this game, and it always seems to grow the more people get their hands around the game and some of its tools. This next level is a re-creation of the first level of Gradius, the side-scrolling space shooter. I really can’t believe it.

I caved and bought this game over the weekend and so far I love it. How many of you guys have played it?

Sony Patents Motion Control Device, Good for Waggles

Sigh. Given Nintendo’s hysterical success this generation, this shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise. We all knew it would come to this. With rumors of Microsoft working on a similar device, it seems that the end is nigh for those of us that like to play games like normal people: Sony has patented a motion control device.

The device relies on ultrasonic and video signals to track its position in relation to a camera and its distance away from it. It actually seems more like a break-apart controller that can be reassembled in different formations, including a massive beating stick.

So what do you guys think? Sony just covering its bases? Or the sign that next gen is going to be super motion-tastic from more than just Nintendo?

New Little Big Planet Levels And More

I just started digging into User Created levels last night and after about 5 minutes, I was frantically calling Eddy to tell him how awesome it all was. Well, the good news doesn’t end there as Gamepro.com is reporting that Sony has confirmed that Media Molecule will be adding new levels and more as DLC.

Eric Fong says,

Yes, Media Molecule is continuing to add to the player experience with new levels, costumes, materials, and a host of other content.

I love what I have played so far and I look forward to more goodness from the MM crew. Have you guys played this yet?

LittleBigPlanet 2 Already In Development?

Even though LittleBigPlanet is just now finding its way into the hands of rabid gamers like Anthony, Sackboy and his army of cuteness isn’t quite finished just yet. It’s being reported that Media Molecule is already hard at work on the sequel.

I guess Sony has really latched onto this game, which makes sense, given they don’t have much of a face for their franchise this gen as of yet. While I am curious to play the game, admittedly I wondered if it would be any fun past week one or two, once I had made my phallic level and moved on. However, I’m hearing lots of great things, and the game is tempting like a tractor beam in its pull.

What about you guys? Who’s gotten to play it yet?

Are We Really Ready For Next Gen?

Over the years, I’ve owned a lot of consoles. At one point or another I’ve been the master of the NES, Atari, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Sony Playstation (uno, dos, tres) the GBA, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 64, XBox, GameCube, XBox 360, PSP, the PC and Nintendo Wii. I like consoles, and the games that come with them. Each console represents a unique period of my life, in which I had a chance to become familiar with the system like a new friend, watching as they grew into their own.

The newest generation of consoles is starting to gather its steam, and so far things have been decent. However, as of late, more and more people are starting discussions about the next generation beyond the 360, the Wii and the PS3, speculating about development and wanting to know when the new systems will drop. My question is: is it time to be talking about this already? Have the big 3 earned an investment in a new console just yet?

Rumor: PS4 Specs?

So once again, I wonder aloud- is it already time for the next gen (you’ll see more about that this weekend)? A rumor has been going around about the potential PS4 specs. Apparently, Sony has sent out some stuff to developers asking for feedback on a few specs that they have in mind.

When is Sony planning on launching this? 2011, by the looks of it. Wow.

Sexy Metal Gear PS3 is Sexy

In what may be one of the hottest and most awesome custom consoles I’ve ever seen, Morpheon Mods has listed a Metal Gear Solid themed PS3 on EBay. The console and controller are fitted with all kinds of crazy modifications to make this thing sleek as hell, and you can even view the design at night, because of a bunch of LEDs fitted to it. Oh yeah- Kojima signed, it too.

In addition, it comes with a bunch of MGS goodies, some of them rare and unique. On top of all of that, 15% of sales will be going to the Penny Arcade “Child’s Play” charity.

I am seriously in awe. Go check out the pictures!

Resistance 2: Last Hours Trailer

A new trailer just launched for Resistance 2, titled “Last Hours”. It’s a pretty epic collection of things from the game that I have to admit got me pretty pumped. This is another one of those games that keeps falling off the radar and then jumping back into my peripheral… I think the thing I’m most excited about is the co-op mode, which can be done with up to 8 players from what I hear. Fun times.

Who else is getting this game for sure?

O Noz! Worldwide LittleBigPlanet Delay!

Wow. In news that’s just downright shocking, it was announced today that LittleBigPlanet is being recalled worldwide, which will result in a delay. The game was supposed to release this next week, but will now be shipped again on Oct. 27th.

The reason? Apparently, there are some audible phrases of the Qu’ran playing in the background of a portion of the soundtrack. It seems that a group wrote to Media Molecule informing them that mixing music and the Qu’ran is deeply offensive to muslims, so all copies of the game are being pulled worldwide.

PS3 Mod Improves Load Times

Since I know some of you are into modding and the like, I thought I’d post this little find from Engadget, where it claims that the new Intel 80 GB X25-M SSD can boost your load times.

While this won’t help on those absolutely unbearable install times on games like MGS 4 and DMC 4, it’ll certainly help on demos you’ve downloaded and on already installed content. And that’s a start, no?

Unfortunately, this thing runs the price of a PS3 and a half at $600, but hey, to each his own.

LBP: Final Fantasy VI, Terras Theme

Ah, more merry music-making from Little Big Planet. This time, the music is from Final Fantasy VI rather than X, which is a much better choice for nostalgia and awesome factor. I know it’s been stated a lot, but somehow it still seems appropriate- I’m dying to see what people do with the full release of this game.

Why Do You Love Your Favorite Console?

With apologies to Episode III: Revenge of the Sith…

Console War! Sony and Microsoft are battered by the ruthless onslaught of the Nintendo Wii. There are exclusives on all sides. Fanboys are everywhere!

So even the most non-partisan gamer has a favorite console. I hate the console wars, but I prefer my PS3 to all others. Why do you guys like your console?

Snake And Sephiroth Break Into LittleBigPlanet

Wow. File this under “too darn cute” and “way awesome”- it was just announced at TGS that two new sackboys are making their way to LittleBigPlanet… Old Snake and Sephiroth. Click here for more high-res screenies.

Once again, the amount of content in this game continues to amaze me, though i worry that because I’m going to suck at making levels, it won’t be quite as fun as it looks. Only time will tell. What other sackboys would you guys like to see?

Homebrew: PSP as a Dual Monitor

Here’s a neat little trick for your PSP: using it as a second computer monitor. Apparently, there are people out there that need about 32 extra square inches of screen space, or approximately 966 x 544 pixels.

So, if you’re one of those dudes that likes to do crazy stuff to his PSP, you should definitely check out the requirements and install procedures at PSP Updates.

LittleBig Number Cruncher

Ok, I know people are probably tired of hearing it constantly, but it’s worth saying- LittleBigPlanet’s toolset is going to allow tons of creativity for young would-be designers. We’ve already seen things like Shadow of the Colossus, Sony’s keynote presentation at E3, Tetris and even a Chocobo Race all made using the LBP level builder.

This new one, however, might take the cake. Constructed out of a crazy series of pistons, ropes, and lord knows what else, this user has created an LBP level that acts as a calculator. If you have trouble adding and subtracting three digit numbers, then by all means, give this one a whirl. The really impressive part is when the camera pans up to reveal the machinery behind the madness. Wow.

Resistance 2, Trophy Style

One of my anticipated games of the Fall/Winter gaming extravaganza is Resistance 2, as I’m sure some of you have guessed. It actually seems like this installment of the franchise will have more of a story to go on, and the gameplay is just looking fantastic.

So, for you completion gurus out there like myself, the Resistance 2 trophies have been released. Browse it, dissect it, take it apart, and get more excited about the game. Also, be careful, there might be a couple of spoilers hidden with its secret well of secrets.

Trophies after the jump!

Tetris in LittleBigPlanet

And once again, the madness grows. Here is a cool video I saw of a level in LittleBigPlanet. What’s so special about it? Well, this particular person recreated the game Tetris. Sure it works kind of slow, and it’s not quite Tetris, but the idea is still there. I’m really impressed with whatever mechanism they rigged up to make the timing and such work right. Just another glimpse at what could be possible with this engine.

Also, gotta love the slow Tetris theme playing…
