Retro Nintendo Customer Service Training Video

I love when all things retro surface again on the Internet, rising from their graves like some unholy zombie minion, ready to slay us with laughter and tales of times gone by. Today’s particularly retro minion comes courtesy of a 1991 Nintendo training video that helps people deal with customers with defective (or supposedly defective) products. Ah, remember back when that Nintendo seal meant something? Good times.

Sup Chief, Episode 1: Mister Chief

I’ve posted a few videos by TheDuoGroup, some of my favorite machinimators. Well, they’re now breaking into the live action realm with a new Web series called Sup Chief?, about a group of guys that gets a new famous roomie from the Halo series. This first episode has its moments, but I’m really curious as to how they’re going to stretch this into a series without the premise getting stale. I’m sure they’ll figure it out.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Trailer

Here’s a new trailer from Bioware’s MMO, The Old Republic. While it may seem like just a regular old “making of” featurette, there’s actually a good bit of stuff from the game as it goes on. The more I see from this game, the more it ratchets up the “do want” meter that exists somewhere inside of my brain. Curse you Bioware!

Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout Trailer

Ok, so Mark Hamil’s Joker and a new Batman video game is a total “do want” kind of thing for me. This new Batman: Arkham Asylum trailer finally shows off the voice talents from the animated series, as well as a look at some gameplay. Great stuff in here, this game might actually be worth playing. Thoughts?

Final Fantasy XIII Kick-Off Trailer

Just when I thought I wasn’t interested in Final Fantasy XIII any longer, Square-Enix goes and releases a brand new kick-ass trailer for it. Seriously, after seeing the same one for the last 3-4 years, it’s nice to see some sweet new footage, along with some really exciting battle gameplay. I guess I’m back on the hype train again.

What do you guys think?

Batman Gets Pwned

Ah, the thought of extraordinary people doing extremely ordinary things is always a good one. Take superheroes like Batman, for instance. Does he play video games? Perhaps he plays himself in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. If you imagined all that, you’d end up with this new short, Batman Gets Pwned. This video is cheesy and goofy, but it still made me laugh. Especially love the puns.

My Spartan Girl Music Video

One of my favorite machinima groups, Darkspire Films, has released some more comedic gold today with their new music video, My Spartan Girl. It’s essentially dedicated to all the girl gamers out there, specifically in Halo 3. It’s kind of tasteless, hilarious, and maybe also slightly NSFW.

One other word: hawt. And if you really want, you can download the song here.

Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage DLC Trailer

The Fallout 3 DLC which so confusingly this week is now being enjoyed by gamers far and wide. Up until now, I’ve only seen screenshots of the thing, which is why it was nice of to Bethesda release this shiny new Operation Anchorage trailer to whet our appetites for some RPG shooter action.

I have to say that I’m an extremely huge fan of the ninja. So who all has played this? Thoughts?

Resident Evil 5 Demo is Online!

That’s right, the long awaited demo for the much-anticipated Resident Evil 5 is now online for the XBox 360. The best part? You can even play some co-op with a friend, and slay crazed villagers together! In honor of this totally awesome event, here’s a sweet video of Resident Evil 5 demo co-op play. I still can’t get over these graphics. They make my heart all a flutter.

EDIT: My bad dudes! This is currently available for the XBox 360, but it won’t hit PSN until next week.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings Trailer

While the latest Indiana Jones movie wasn’t so hot (wtf aliens), there’s always been a lot of potential to extend the life of the franchise through the medium of video games. Here’s a new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, coming to the Wii. Even though it doesn’t show any actual gameplay, I have to say, it definitely has the right feel. I’m actually a little excited.

Today’s Win: Tetris Plus Sim City

Ah, how I miss those times when creative games seemed to flow like rivers. These days, all we seem to get is the same console shooter re-packaged ad infinite. Woo. It’s nice to play something like Castle Crashers or Braid every now and then, just to feel like you’re doing something different.

Enter the Independent Games Festival, who announced their finalists just yesterday. One of those games is called City Rain, which combines gameplay mechanics from Sim City and Tetris to create something incredibly awesome looking. For real, check this out. If you want to see the lists of other rad finalists, click here.

Go ahead. Tell me it doesn’t look sweet.

Riddick: Dark Athena Opening Cinematic

I’m a total sci-fi tool. I will admit it before anyone else even thinks it. That’s why I am kind of losing my junk over this video, the first four minutes of Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena. It’s definitely got a cool sci-fi feel to it, and I’ve always loved the universe of the Riddick stories.

Best part of all? This video game is only two months away. How does it look to you guys?

Leaked Killzone 2 Opening Cinematic

Well, Killzone 2 is just around the corner, bringing months of Sony hype into its inevitable fail/win Internet declarations. You know how these things go.

Furthering this speeding engine, the Killzone 2 opening cinematic has been leaked onto our glorious Web tubes for all to see and gawk at. Like other videos having to do with this game, it excites me at some points, makes me say “meh” at others. What do you guys think?

Oh, and obviously, there are spoilers.

GTA IV Machinima: Dirty Brake

Zachariah Scott of LitFuseFilms is at it again with some more GTA IV machinima tests, the newest of which is called Dirty Brake. This one involves some good old fashioned driving and destruction, something we can all relate to in terms of the GTA series. A particularly epic shot has to do with a light pole. You’ll know it when you see it. Also, make sure to check it out in HD.

V.A.T.S. in Halo 3

I love gaming amalgamations. Combining all kinds of fun flavors to make new and exciting things is simply fascinating. Take this mash-up of Fallout 3 and Halo 3, for example, where someone added the V.A.T.S. combat system to the beloved Bungie shooter. Awesomeness ensues.

Today’s Totally Awesome: YouTube Street Fighter

Um, this kind of blows my mind. This YouTube video actually allows you to “play” Street Fighter through YouTube. Every now and then you’ll get choices like moves, characters, etc, all of which come in to play against your opponent. Wait too long to strike, and your opponent will decimate you. So yeah, YouTube Street Fighter. What will they think of next?

Call of Duty 4 Machinima: The Spectator

Here’s a new machinima short from some of my favorite machinimators on the planet, The Duo Group. It’s actually created with Call of Duty 4, so that’s rather unique as far as machinima goes. While it’s a little unbelievable that this man would survive, I still love the way it all looks. Great voice acting, too.

Leaked Star Wars Battlefront 3 Footage

Some footage from an internal meetnig at Free Radical has made its way to the intertubes today, given the company’s recent shut-down. In it? Gameplay videos from Star Wars Battlefront 3. Even from the grainy footage, you can tell that this game was going to be a blast.

It’s sad, really. Let’s hope this thing finds a way to get released. It looks fun!

Video Games’ Worst Voice Acting

We’ve all been there. That painful cringe as a voice actor in a video game lets loose another putrid sound byte. While gaming has come along way in this regard, there are so many bad spots in the past that its fun to reminisce upon them, much like this video does.

I have to say, I’m glad that both FFX and the original Resident Evil ended up here. That “master of unlocking” line is brutal.

Killzone 2 Preview Video

Well, with all the hype surrounding the game (at least in the gaming world if not on the tube), I figured I’d finally post a video of Killzone 2. Gametrailers recently did a nice preview of what the game has to offer, and it’s fairly comprehensive.

I have to say, while the Sony E3 video will live in infamy because of its pre-rendered footage, none of the footage in the actual game is CG. And man, the graphics are nice. Admittedly, the gameplay looks somewhat generic and the design is meh, but still, it can be a looker.
