Heavy Rain to Avoid the Sequel Season

heavy-rainWe all love and dread the holiday season when it comes to purchasing video games. Love in the sense that we know we are going to be getting tons of quality games, but dread in the sense that there is no way we can purchase all of them at once, meaning that some will slip to the wayside. It happens every year.

Not to Heavy Rain, though. It seems that Quantic Dream is pushing the game to 2010 in order to stay out of the way of games like Modern Warfare 2, which will destroy everything in its path this holiday season. There are a few other games that are doing this, as well, but pushing back to the beginning of 2010 should allow Heavy Rain to debut without nearly as much competition.

Seeing as how Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed, Halo, Call of Duty, Uncharted (now rumored for September), Bioshock and Mario are all getting sequels this fall, this is probably a good move. Why more video game companies don’t spread these releases out is beyond me. Who else wants video games spread out through the year?

Heavy Rain E3 Gameplay

Not a whole lot of people played Indigo Prophecy, the cinematic mystery thriller from Quantic Dream that turned out to be one of my favorite games of last generation. It played like a movie and a point and click adventure, with quick time events for the action-heavy segments. It was Myst, a noir film, and Dragon’s Lair all rolled into one.

Well, the next Quantic Dream game, Heavy Rain, looks even more impressive than that one. Coming for the PS3, the game has some incredible graphics, and really seems to have unique gameplay that we don’t always find. This E3 demonstration has some of the first glimpses we’ve seen, and I’m really intrigued now. I know not everyone will love the QTE action sequences, but personally, I’m ok playing those since it’s such a unique game. What do you guys think?

Heavy Rain Equals No Do-Overs

If you’re unaware the upcoming PS3 game Heavy Rain, by Quantic Dreams, you should familiarize yourself with it. From the makers of Indigo Prophecy, it is an incredibly cinematic game that lets the character play it almost like an interactive movie, and from the looks of it, is going to be something special.

One interesting thing, though: the creator, David Cage says that you can even continue to play the game after the main character dies.
