The GamerSushi Show, Ep 95: Super Sushian Odyssey

Oh, hey. Didn’t see you there. Been a while, huh?

Yes, after our much publicized return, the GamerSushi crew managed to churn out exactly one podcast before going on yet another unintended two year long hiatus. What can we say, turns out that writing and casting about games on a weekly basis as a hobby gets really difficult when you’re five grown men, two of whom have children.

In the past year, however, we’ve had some incredible (and not so incredible) games drop on us, including a stunning return to form for Nintendo who released not only an awesome system but perhaps the most defining games in two of their flagship series. Naturally the Nintendo Switch dominates the front half of the podcast along with discussions about Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

We also talk about this year’s breakout hit PLAYERUNKNOWN’s Battlegrounds as well as guess which games in 2018 will be getting their own battle royale mode. There’s some discussion on the most disappointing games of the last year as well as our personal Game of the Year for 2017. Despite what some people might say, Sonic Mania is totally a good game.

When will we be back? Who knows, we do want to get to episode 100 eventually so we might be tickling your ear holes again soon when there’s something to talk about. Since it’s been a while remember to rate and review and we’ll see you all again soon.

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 94: Peak Sush

Kept you waiting, huh?

It’s true, your eyes are not deceiving you…the GamerSushi Show is back with its long awaited 94th installment. The lives of the GS editors (and special guest Eddy) finally had a night we could all get free for casting, so we fired up the mics, went through three different calling software services and talked about what we’ve missed since our last show.

There’s a brief recap of some news like the Assassin’s Creed delay and then we talk about Destiny: The Taken King, Firewatch and Metal Gear Solid 5, among other things.

It has been a while, so here’s how it goes: listen, rate and give prayer to the great gods of Askarn that we will return before too long. Thanks for listening!

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 93: Not Afraid of Butt Stuff

gamersushi show e3 2014

Well here we are friends, at the end of our journey together for this season of the podcast. Over the last twenty episodes (and two Extra Bytes), we’ve laughed, we’ve cried and learned way too much about Eddy’s personal life.

In case you’ve missed out repeated warnings, this is the last episode of Season Three of the GamerSushi Show and we’ll be taking a break for the next few months to enjoy the summer and also not have to talk to each other on a weekly basis.

This is our E3 2014 wrap-up where we grade the conferences and talk about the third-party games, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on the whole shebang so chime in below!

Listen, rate and we’ll see you in September for season 4!

6:01 – 37:07 Microsoft presser and third party games

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 92: Transistor Resistor

gamersushi show ep 92

Oh, hey.

The GamerSushi Show makes a glorious return after an unintended week break, shortly before we take a longer, intended break. As we remind you in the cast our post-E3 vacation is coming up, so you will have only one or two more episodes to sooth you in the hot weather. We’ll be back come September, though, as Destiny beckons us to Become Legend™.

In this particular cast, we talk about a bunch of stuff like Transistor, the fact that I bought a PlayStation 4, the life-ruining addictiveness of Hearthstone and a couple recent game announcements.

Download, stream, listen, rate and we’ll see you next time!

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 91: You Sunk My Battleship!

gamersushi show ep 91

Hey. We’re back.

It’s a regular-ass regular show with all of the GamerSushi dudes in attendance. This is the first time in a number of podcasts that Eddy has joined us, but he’s been a busy dude so we should all forgive him.

Anthony also regales us with tales of his honeymoon and then we discuss what happens to the hair on your head when you get older. It goes south. The hair, not the conversation.

For actual video game news, we talk about Microsoft dropping a $399 Kinect-less Xbox One on us, then we try to remember if you go to the Citadel in Mass Effect 2, and we wrap it all up with E3 predictions.

Listen, rate and hopefully we’ll be back next week. See ya!

GamerSushi Extra Bytes Ep 02: Bruce Banter

gamersushi extra bytes ep 02

It’s the long awaited return of Extra Bytes, the off-topic version of the classic GamerSushi Show.

Hot on the heels of the release of Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Solider, Jeff, Nick and myself talk about the hot new thing in Hollywood, which is movie studios trying to tie all of their comic book (or other) properties together to make interconnected universes and start rolling in the dough like Marvel.

We base a lot of our talk on io9’s Which Studio’s Attempt To Copy Marvel’s Movie Universe Is Most Doomed? but we throw in our own thoughts on the above two movies, the Batman/Superman film and FOX’s X-Men franchise. We keep the spoilers pretty light, so you can listen without fear.

Listen, rate and comment below: what do you think of all of the attempts to make “mega-franchises”? Which ones will succeed and which ones will fail?

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 90: Alan, Please Add Title

gamersushi show ep 90

After an unexpected week break we’re back in your digital media player with an episode of the GamerSushi Show. I couldn’t think of a clever title this week, but Jeff, Anthony and I talk some video game news and give thoughts on what we’re playing. You know, the usual deal. We also find time to bust out a few impressions at the end.

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 89: Super Sushi Bros.

gamersushi show ep 89

Fans of Patrick‘s last appearance in the days of yore of the GamerSushi Show (well, episode 83 actually) will be overjoyed to learn that the site’s most Easterly Canadian is back for another go.

Given Patrick’s stance as a Wii U supporter, it’s fortunate that we brought him in to discuss the massive Super Smash Bros. info-dump that came out this week. We also talk about out impressions of the Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number trailer and break down the beneficial changes Blizzard has brought to Diablo 3 for the new expansion, Reaper of Souls.

So listen, rate, give us five stars on Twitter and we’ll be back in your ear holes soon!

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 88: Come on Baby, Light My Fire

gamersushi show ep 88

An unusual three-man assortment of Anthony, Jeff and Nick head up the GamerSushi Show this week as Eddy and I were off discussing shirtless Henry Cavill, because really, why wouldn’t you?

Despite wavering for a moment in to Extra Bytes territory, the gang rights the Sushi ship and talks about Amazon’s recently unveiled Fire TV, some Dark Souls 2 and Nick’s experience with his new PlayStation 4.

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 87: You Got the Trollin’ in Me

gamersushi show ep 87

The break may have been a week longer than we intended, but a trio of GamerSushi editors took to the mic this week to bring you a new installment of your favorite podcast (or one of you favorites at any rate).

Because Eddy has a backlog of trolling he’s in fine form this episode, but despite that we still manage to yak about Titanfall and out experiences with the live version, Eddy’s dislike of InFamous: Second Son, some random bits of gaming news and the big deal of this week, Facebook buying Oculus.

I’m sure you know how it goes, but I’m going to remind you anyways: listen, rate and treat yo’self. See you next time!

gamersushi show ep 86

It’s the same Sushi time, same Sushi channel. The crew is in your ears once again, talking all that sweet, sweet video game news. We know how you like it.

This week we talk about the Batman: Arkham Knight reveal along with the news that Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog. There’s also some conversation about what we’re playing and then we break down the Titanfall info leak that came out.

Speaking of Titanfall we won’t be on hand next week since we’ll be too busy blowing up huge robots, but we have something planned. Listen, rate and SWEAR TO ME. You know, because Batman.

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 85: An Irrational Decision

the gamersushi show ep 85

We’re back from a one-week break with another GamerSushi Show. Nick skips out on this cast, but I’d like to think that the rest of us more than make of for the lack of his bearded tones.

For topics, we talk the Titanfall Beta, the Xbox One’s recent price cut in the UK and the closure of Irrational Games. We then cap it off with what we’re playing.

gamersushi show 84

Prepare for podcast fall. We’re coming at you with a new episode of The GamerSushi Show.

This week, the prodigal Canadian returns as Mitch, Eddy, Jeff and Nick talk about Titanfall, the Flappy Bird saga and the Evolve information that dropped last week. Additionally, Eddy shares what goes on in his dreams. It’s very…interesting.

So, you know how this goes. Listen, rate and prosper.

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 83: The Year of Birdo

the gamersushi show ep 83

The GamerSushi Show is back for another week, but this time the intrepid boys from the States are hosting a different Canadian: Patrick, friend of the show, joined us this week to try and defend Nintendo against our usual merciless onslaught.

Since Patrick is a long-time friend of Eddy, Jeff and Nick, he fits right in. In fact, you might not even notice that a certain other Canadian is missing. *sniff*

So, if you enjoyed the cast, why not let Patrick know by rating it? Thanks for listening, and see you next time!

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 82: Meteorology Cast

gamersushi show ep 82

Hello podcast faithful, it is time for another GamerSushi Show.

I don’t really have that much to say about this cast, because, as you’re about to find out, it was pretty random. After a lengthy intro about the weather, Nick, Jeff and Eddy go off on whatever tangent pleases them at the time. Eddy spends most of the cast trolling Jeff, and the results are fairly hilarious.

So, listen, rate and see you next time!

0:00 – 12:09 Intro
12:10 – 15:55 Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
15:56 – 22:49 Xbox One

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 81: This Isn’t Even My Final Form

gamersushi show ep 81

What ho, podcast faithful! We’re two casts into this new year and 2014 has been kind to us with many topics to converse about. It’s a three-man cast this week as Anthony and myself were off doing secret best-friend stuff (Askarnian handshakes) so Eddy, Jeff and Nick shared the load. Well, Jeff and Nick tried to, but Eddy was dishing out some USDA-choice trolling. Seriously, it’s kind of ridiculous.

There were also some interruptions which I tried to cut around, but you can probably tell at a couple points that “real life” was calling on our intrepid heroes. Anyways, you know what to do, listen, rate and be merry. See you next time!

0:00 – 3:12 Intro
3:13 – 10:54 The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 80: Teem Mucheens

the gamersushi show ep 80

We’re back with our first post-Winter break cast and it is a doozy. Everyone is here and we rap about some neat stuff like the news out of CES, what we’re playing and then we wrap it up with some video game news.

It’s been a few weeks so I’ll remind you how this goes. Listen, rate and we’ll see you in the next cast!

0:00 – 6:11 Intro

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 79: The Top 10 of 2013

the gamersushi show ep 79

We are back from a month long break to drop a cast on you before we talk another month long break. Hey, it’s the holidays, can you blame us?

In this three-man yuletide cast, Eddy, Anthony and Jeff talk about the PS4 and the Xbox One, the VGX and then do a live formulation of our top ten games of the year. Nick and I weren’t able to make it but I’d say that our views are fairly represented (except about The Last of Us, but that’s a battle I gave up on long ago).

We’ve never done a live top-10 discussion, but it worked out rather well, especially after our Top 20 Games of the Generation article kind of listed us out.

Hope you enjoy the last cast of 2013 and remember to rate and enjoy the Holidays! See you in early 2014, Sushians!

The GamerSushi Top Ten Games of 2013

1. Grand Theft Auto V
2. Bioshock Infinite

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 78: Thanks, Assassin’s Creed

the gamersushi show ep 78

It’s a new episode of (presumably) one of your favorite video game podcasts. We’ve got a full crew this week because Nick is jobless and that’s what you do when you don’t have to work. Podcast and play video games.

In case you haven’t heard enough about it, we talk GTA 5, including Nick’s impressions of the single player game and some online anecdotes. Then we talk Assassin’s Creed IV’s meta-narrative, some fields of battle, the newest Call of Duty and some next-gen stuff. It’s a pretty good show.

So, you know what to do. Listen, rate and don’t do anything we wouldn’t do. See you next time!

57:42 – 1:00:47 Outro

The GamerSushi Show, Ep 77: Sushimons

the gamersushi show ep 77

We’re back with another episode of the video game podcast you love, the GamerSushi Show.

This week bears some exciting news as Eddy finally joins the ranks of 3DS owners. Nintendo’s handheld has picked up in some big ways, and the mere fact that he bought one brought up a conversation about how we’re all transitioning to a different style of playing games.

After that we talk memories from out PlayStation One and Two days and then I finally get to talk Pokemon. Anthony has also been digging into the newest iteration of the series so we get my perspective as a veteran and his as a newcomer.

I think you know the drill by now, but listen, rate the cast, and be nice to everyone. Except that one person. You know who I’m talking about. See you next time!
